Words of Comfort in Times of Tragedy

Here’s what the bible says about comfort in times of tragedy. Psalm 147:3 – He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. 1 Peter 5:7 – Casting all your anxieties on him because he cares for you. Psalm 34:18 – The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.

Words of Comfort in Times of tragedy.

  • “What we have once enjoyed, we can never lose.”
  • “After you have wept and grieved for your physical losses, cherish the functions and life you have left.” —Morrie Schwartz.
  • “We must embrace pain and burn it as fuel for our journey.”—Kenji Miyazawa, Positively Positive.

Words of Sympathy for the Tragic Loss of a Spouse or Partner

Losing your forever partner is one of the toughest things anyone can experience. Telling anyone you’re sorry for their loss likely doesn’t cover the wide range of sadness they must be going through.

Offering one of these messages below won’t remove the pain, but it shows how you care about them and are always there to support them.

  • “I can’t take away your pain, but I want you to understand I’m always here for you.”

This is a crucial way to validate their feelings without pushing. The best thing you can communicate is that you’ll always be there for them.

  • “I can’t imagine the level of sadness you’re going through. You’re always in my thoughts.”

One common mistake most people make is assuming they know how someone else feels. In reality, you can not understand someone else’s grief from their perspective. Instead, let them know that their feelings are always okay and that you’re thinking of them.

  • “Berry was one of the kindest souls I knew. I’m so grateful to have met him.”

This is another kind thing to say, to compliment the deceased and honor their memory. Keeping the deceased legacy alive is one of the most powerful ways to show support.

Faith in Times of Tragedy

Don’t let your mind lead you into a negative mood by rehearsing your problems apart from God’s promises.

  • It’s okay to ask why. Erin had some tough questions for God.
  • Remember what faith means.
  • Make a choice.
  • Focus on God’s faithfulness.
  • Don’t shut yourself off from people.
  • Love God more than you love the world.
  • Know you are not alone.

Summary

Meditate on God’s Word always and talk to Jesus about it. While meditating, allow God to speak to you. Then pray with our eyes focused on God and not on your problems. Lure yourself into faith instead of anxiety.
