Bible verses for married couples having problems

Ephesians 5:22

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

~ Ephesians 5:22

Paul tells wives to submit to their husbands.

The context is that of a husband and wife submitting to each other and loving one another, but it can be confusing as to why wives are told to submit specifically.

The answer, as seen in the following verses, is that wives should submit because they love their husbands.

Paul says that the husband loves his wife as his own body and that she should submit to everything.

This doesn’t mean that she needs to do everything he says, but rather that she should honor her husband with respect and obedience. With this, problems in our homes will be taken away.

JOHN 15:12

This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

~ John 15:12

Jesus is commanding us to love one another because he loves us.

He wants us to love one another because it will make the world a better place for everyone.

If we all loved each other like Jesus did/does, the world would be a very different, and much better, place. Spouses are expected to obey this commandment of God by loving each other.

COLOSSIANS 3:14

And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness

~ Colossians 3:14

This verse means that love is the binding force of all relationships.

Our relationship with God, our relationship with our spouse, families, friends, and coworkers.

These are all made up of a thousand little moments that can be strengthened by love. In our everyday life, we should practice love, this is what will take away issues in our homes.

Ephesians 4:3

Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

~ Ephesians 4:3

The Bible verse Ephesians 4:3 is about making sure that we treat each other with love and respect, no matter what disagreements or differences of opinion we may have.

What this means is that we should try our best to keep our bonds strong with one another, so that we can be united as a whole and united family without problems.

Bible verses for couples in hard times

Proverbs 5:18

Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.

~ Proverbs 5:18

Proverbs 5:18 lets you know that your spouse is your fountain of life, and you shouldn’t waste your time with an adulterous woman, because it will lead to death.

The major takeaway from Proverbs 5:18 is that if you’re married, your spouse is your fountain of life.

Basically, this verse is telling us to take joy in our lives and never take them for granted

Proverbs 13:10

Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.

~ Proverbs 13:10

This verse means that “contention,” or conflict and argument, only comes from pride. People who are well-advised, or have good counsel from others, have wisdom.

The line of reasoning behind this proverb is that people who are prideful are more likely to argue with other people.

Prideful people overestimate their own abilities and knowledge, so they think they are always right, and in our homes, this kind of lifestyle should be avoided for peace to be seen in the house.

1 John 3: 18

My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

~ 1 John 3:18

John is talking about the importance of loving each other. In this verse, John says that we shouldn’t love with words or speech, but instead with our actions.

If you love someone, you’ll take action to help them. If they’re hungry but you just say “I love you!”, what good is that? You have to feed them!

In our family, we should not love with mere words but with actions also.

Romans 12: 10

Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

~ Romans 12:10

This is such a cool reminder that we all have a responsibility to look out for each other, not just ourselves.

We are a community, and while it can be easy to get so caught up in ourselves and our own problems that we forget how great it is to be a part of something bigger than us, it’s important that we remember today and every day to care for one another.

In our houses, love should be our watchword.

Proverbs 12:4

A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

~ Proverbs 12:4

Proverbs 12:4 says that A wife of noble character is her husband’s crown, but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones.

A wife who listens to her husband and gives him great advice could be seen as his crown.

But a wife who disrespects her husband and does not listen to him could be seen as decay in his bones because he might not be happy with the way she acts and it could cause an argument between them.

Philippians 2:3-5

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

~ Philippians 2:3

In this verse, Paul is telling the people of Philippi that they should not do anything out of selfish ambition or conceit.

Instead, they should approach everything with humility and think of the interests of others as more important than their own.

He then elaborates on this idea by saying that they should focus on the good of others because it is the right thing to do.

Proverbs 24:3-4

Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:

~ Proverbs 24:3

This verse tells us that we need to be wise in order to build our home on a solid foundation.

If we’re not, the house and the people within it will crumble.

We need to make sure that we are building our house on something good.

 Romans 15:5-6

Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:

~ Romans 15:5

This passage is about the fact that God’s love has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, who was given to us. This shows that we are privileged, and reminds us that no one should be selfish or conceited. Instead, we should practice humility towards one another and be patient with each other’s faults. The Bible says that love builds up, so our patience with others should come from a place of love.

Bible verses to strengthen a marriage

1 Peter 4:8

And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

~ 1 Peter 4:8

This verse is telling us that we should always love the people in our lives the most because that’s how we’ll get along well with others.

Love is what makes living with others possible: it keeps us from getting upset all of the time or thinking only about ourselves instead of others.

In our family, we should learn to love deeply!

Ephesians 4:2-3

With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

~ Ephesians 4:2

In all we do, we should treat other people like we would like to be treated.

We should be kind to others and genuinely care about them.

You were taught to be like God, and God is good to everyone.

He shares everything he has with everyone. The same should be seen in our marriages.

1 Corinthians 16:14

Let all your things be done with charity.

~ 1 Corinthians 16:14

Paul tells the Corinthians to let their love be genuine and to hate what is evil.

He says they’re not to be lazy, but rather to strive to be zealous for good works.

And in respect to the family, we should do all things with charity and remove hate amongst us.

 1 John 4:12

No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

~ 1 John 4:12

This verse tells us that while no man has ever seen God, we have direct access to him through our love for others.

When we love each other and strive to be like Christ in all our interactions with each other, God begins to work within us.

This isn’t about just being nice to each other; it’s about actively working on ourselves so that we can show God’s love to the world through our own actions and words.

If you want to get closer to God, the best way is through loving your neighbor as yourself and loving your spouse as you love yourself
