Responsibilities

  • Load, unload, and transport construction materials: Utilizing hand trucks, dollies, and forklifts (with proper training).
  • Remove rubble and debris: Using brooms, shovels, and wheelbarrows.
  • Strip old finishes from wood surfaces: With sanders, scraping tools, and chemical strippers.
  • Prepare floors for installation: Leveling tools, moisture meters, and dust vacuums are your allies.
  • Install hardwood floors: Nail guns, hammers, saws, and miter boxes will become your extensions.
  • Perform miscellaneous tasks: Tape measures, utility knives, and safety glasses are your everyday companions.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Learn and adapt to new techniques and technologies.

Tasks

  • Measure and cut wood precisely with tape measures, levels, and power tools like circular saws and jigsaws.
  • Apply wood glue and sealants with brushes, rollers, and sponges.
  • Sand and buff newly installed floors for a smooth finish using orbital sanders and buffers. Stain and varnish wood floors with brushes, rollers, and sprayers.
  • Install baseboards and mouldings with nail guns and caulk guns.
  • Repair minor imperfections in wood floors with putty knives and sanding tools.
    Sharpen and maintain tools for optimal performance.
  • Clean up work areas after each project, ensuring a professional finish.
  • Assist other team members with various tasks as needed.
  • Stay informed about new trends and materials in the hardwood flooring industry.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, and supervisors.
