What Does the Bible Say about Suffering

The Bible talks a lot about suffering. For starters, the Bible acknowledges that there is suffering in the world. It acknowledges that people suffer from physical, mental, and spiritual anguish and does not attempt to minimize or dismiss this fact.

Secondly, the Bible teaches that pain is a natural byproduct of living in a fallen world. When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, they brought sin and misery into the world. As a result, we live in a broken and imperfect world, and we suffer the consequences of sin.

We are not alone in our sorrow, according to the Bible. Jesus suffered immensely, and he understands our anguish. He is present in our anguish and offers to comfort and strengthen us. “Happy are those who weep, because they will be comforted,” Jesus says in Matthew 5:4.

Ultimately, the Bible gives us hope that all suffering will end one day. According to Revelation 21:4, “He will wipe away all of their tears. Because the old order of things has gone away, there will be no more death, sorrow, crying, or suffering.”

What Does God Say about Suffering

The Bible is strikingly realistic in teaching us how to notice, endure, and deal with hardship. The Bible even goes so far as to condemn an entire book that deals with the subject of pain. This Bible story is based on the life of a man named Job.

The book’s initial pages depict a scene in Heaven, providing the reader with context for Job’s misery. We were taught that Job suffered due to God’s conflict with Satan.

According to the Bible, Job, and his associates were unaware of this competition. In their ignorance, they attempted to explain Job’s suffering without success until Job was left with nothing but God’s faithfulness and the hope of His Redemption.

Remember that neither his job nor his companions understood the reasons for his suffering at the time, although he was a Man of God (Faithful to God’s Commands).

The Bible also says he remains silent when the Lord confronts Job. Job’s silence may have mitigated the severe loss and sorrow he had patiently borne.

Yet this was not the case. Remember that Job lost all of his children, animals, possessions, and everything that brought joy to his human eyes in a single day.

Job’s muted reaction emphasized the need to trust God’s purposes amid suffering, even when we don’t know what they are.

Brethren. Remember your suffering. Like all human experiences, it is directed and controlled by God’s sovereign wisdom, which never fails.

Even if we never know why we suffer, we must always believe in our all-powerful God. Jesus is both the answer and the solution to our problems.
