What does the Bible say about helping others too much

The Bible does not tell us how much help is too much.  we weren’t given a limit to how far we can go in helping someone out, or a description of where to start and stop when it comes to helping others. Rather, the Bible encourages us to love each other, there is love in helping. We cannot help if we do not love and we cannot say we love and not help others.

As it’s clearly stated in this verse, it should be your decision on how much help you want to offer. Not responding to any form of pressure, but a willing and cheerful help.

There are no passages in the bible which give us any impression to believe that there is a limit on how much we should help people.

Luke 10:32‭-‬33

Then a despised Samaritan came along, and when he saw the man, he felt compassion for him. Going over to him, the Samaritan soothed his wounds with olive oil and wine and bandaged them. Then he put the man on his donkey and took him to an inn, where he took care of him.-

Luke 10:32‭-‬33 NLT

What does the Bible say about helping others too much

Jesus was telling a parable about the good Samaritan who rendered extravagant, risky help to a man he knows nothing about. He went as far as taking a robbed man to an inn and paid a good amount of money to get him treated, this is a lot of help and if he had helped just a little by giving him money only without soothing his wound or taking him to an inn then the man would still be in pain. Going all out and helping all the way was what saved the man.
Jesus expects much from his followers.

what does the bible say about enabling?

There is a difference between helping and enabling someone. Helping is to give or provide for someone that is not capable of doing so for themselves. Enabling is doing something for someone that they can and should be doing for themselves.

2 Thessalonians 3:10-12

Even while we were with you, we gave you this command: Those unwilling to work will not get to eat.

2 Thessalonians 3:10-12

In the book of 2 Thessalonians, Paul’s second letter to the Thessalonians.
Paul was speaking to the church in chapter 3 about not being idle and not encouraging such an attitude. The Bible does not encourage enabling, never once in the bible is irresponsibility excused. Paul urges everyone to settle down and earn the bread they eat.

Truly loving and helping someone means wanting what is best for them, enabling someone is encouraging that person to remain idle, and this can cause destructive things in that person’s life.

Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before.-

Deuteronomy 15:7-8

This verse tells that if a brother or someone is poor, we as Christians should help our brother, be open-handed, and lend to him. As true religion is helping the poor and oppressed, and love is the greatest command, we must be ever willing to lend a helping hand, according to our capacity.

The meaning of doormat: a mat placed in a doorway, on which people can wipe their shoes upon entering a building.   With this explanation when they say someone is a doormat, well I hope you get the picture, but no one honestly likes such a feelgood of being treated like a doormat.

Being a doormat means you are weak, you let people with all manner of filthy shoes come wipe themselves on you.

what does the bible say about helping others who won’t help themselves?

The Bible doesn’t state any definite word on helping those who won’t help themselves. Usually, that quote is “God helps those who help themselves,” which is not in the Bible.

The closest thing it says about this topic is an instruction to the church given by Paul in

2 Thessalonians 3:10‭-‬13

Even while we were with you, we gave you this command: “Those unwilling to work will not get to eat.” Yet we hear that some of you are living idle lives, refusing to work and meddling in other people’s business. We command such people and urge them in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and work to earn their own living.-

2 Thessalonians 3:10‭-‬13 NLT

The Bible states that those that won’t work shouldn’t eat, but this is usually used as an excuse to not help those who lack the ability to work. People who are unable to work are different from people who will not work.

There are also instructions to the church about the people they should support, giving to the poor, providing for widows  the fatherless, and the orphans

Proverbs 13:4

A lazy man desires what diligent people want, like houses, cars, money, and all the finer things of life, but he does not get to work for this purpose, therefore his desires remain unsatisfied, while the diligent gain so much.

But the main driving factor in desiring and having and desiring and not having is working, as the Bible makes us understand that faith without works is dead.

2 Thessalonians 3:10

Even while we were with you, we gave you this command: Those unwilling to work will not get to eat.-

2 Thessalonians 3:10

A person who is on unwilling to work is lazy and Paul gave this as a command to the church; that anyone unwilling to work shouldn’t eat.
Because Christians do not approve of such an attitude that not only harms the person but also others around him or her.
