The Bible claims that the sunset represents God’s love and protection. King David, in Psalm 65, thanks God for covering the hills with a robe of excellent things, alluding to the vivid hues of a sunset.

Isaiah even goes so far as to say those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not grow weary; they shall walk and not be weary” (Isaiah 40:31), suggesting that the beauty of a sunset is a reminder of the strength of God’s love.

The Bible says that the sun rising and the setting is a reminder of the might and glory of God. In Job 38:12–13, God questions Job, “Have you caused the dawn to know its position and commanded the morning since your days first began? The poet also states in Psalm 19:1-4, “The skies reveal the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.

Speech flows from day to day, and understanding is revealed at night. There is neither speech nor writing whose voice is unheard. Their words travel to the farthest reaches of the globe, and their voice fills the entire planet.

This is a celebration of how the sunrise and sunset display God’s splendor and serves as a reminder of how God’s strength is manifested in the regularity of the day’s cycle.
