About the role:

  • Design and analyze structural elements for various projects, including buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure.
  • Develop and implement construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and calculations.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and construction professionals to ensure project success.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest building codes, standards, and technologies.
  • Perform site visits to monitor construction progress and identify potential issues.

Certificates, Licenses, Memberships, and Courses:

  • A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (or a related field) is required.
  • A Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license in Ontario or eligibility to obtain one within one year is preferred.
  • Membership in relevant engineering associations (e.g., OSPE, ASCE) is a plus.
  • Strong proficiency in structural engineering software (e.g., STAAD Pro, ETABS, SAP 2000) is essential.

Experience:

  • Specialization: 3+ years of experience in structural engineering design, preferably in a consulting firm environment.
  • Personal suitability: excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Strong analytical and technical aptitude. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Transportation/Travel Information:

  • Some travel to project sites may be required.
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:

  • Office environment with occasional site visits.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and perform detailed computer work.
